OUR STORY

The year was 2010 and downstairs in the G1 Snow School building of Whistler, then boss, now friend, Bex, introduced them in that cold dark dank room. “I can still feel the electricity from when I turned around to shake Sebastien’s hand and look him in the eye for the first time. Electric. A full rush and vast smile.” The room lit up. The Love Gods had plans. The snow fell and life continued, seasons changed, ah it was a time…good company with free popcorn and $2 sleeves of beer at the Four Seasons après, dinner parties, deep snow missions, hut excursions and Rainbow Heli-drops. Their love grew and so did their dreams.

They left Snow School with a tear and graduated to making a family in Montreal. Seb launched right back into Film Production co-founding Sailor Productions Inc. with three good friends. Mel, a new Mama and always the Theatre major was quick to help in any resourceful way Sailor needed. It was a good/messy/creative/demanding/beautiful time.

While in Montreal they worked to build a home. Building said home turned into a complete renovation of a 1904 duplex in Rosemont. Melanie grew up on jobs sites and Sebastien had been working construction in his spare time since early Whistler days. Together with courage and vision they created two modern homes. With two babes at their feet it was a good/messy/creative/demanding/beautiful time.

But the mountains were calling…

Both Mel and Seb had been passionate skiers since their early days and as any skier will tell you, once you feel deep powder there’s no escaping the desire. So they packed their bags and their children, and headed back to the West Coast mountains. Where had all the ski bums gone? Where were the turtleneck-fluorescent-suit wearing, 20cms = not working, no friends on a powder day, don’t take anything too seriously, high-fiving, après-loving dancing on tables in ski boots crew? …What’s that? They got run outta town you say?! What were Mel & Seb to do? Bring it back.

Well, they decided to follow the flow of Mountain Magic right over to the fun loving, counterculture, family, slack-country mountains of the Kootenay’s. Straight to a little place called Whitewater, where the snow floats like champagne bubbles, cell phones don’t work, crystals are rampant, food is gourmet and the people are real.

Whistler kept calling. They made it back and they found home.

Now it's time to STRIVE...
